DRIVER CHARGED AFTER 2 VEHICLE CRASH

(WALKERTON, ON) - On May 5, 2017 at 2:22 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a 2 vehicle crash at the intersection of South Street and McGivern Street in Walkerton.

Officers arrived to find that a Red Ford Focus and a Blue Chevrolet Cruze were involved. The driver of the Focus, 52-year-old Thomas JONES of Shelburne was charged with fail to yield right of way. There were minor injuries reported at the scene.

POLICE SEEKING WITNESSES TO DAMAGE

(MILDMAY, ON) - On May 5, 2017 at 10:54 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a property damage report for the intersection of Highway 9 and Absalom Street in Mildmay. Sometime between 5:00 p.m. on May 2, 2017 and 12:00 p.m. on May 4, 2017, the traffic light pole at the northwest corner of the intersection was damaged. The cost for the repairs on the light pole is estimated to be $20,000.

IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED

(SAUBLE BEACH, ON) - On May 6, 2017 at 5:54 p.m., the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver whose grey 2003 Ford Escape was partially submerged in the waters off of Lakeshore Boulevard on Saugeen First Nation. Police located the vehicle and found the driver had been drinking alcohol. He was transported to the Bruce Peninsula OPP Detachment for breath tests, in which he failed.

Christopher LANCASTER, age 26, of Wiarton, has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80 milligrams. His vehicle was impounded and his driver's licence suspended. He is required to appear before the Owen Sound Court of Justice on May 18, 2017, to answer to the charges.

RIDING LAWNMOWERS STOLEN FROM PREMIER EQUIPMENT

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) - Grey County Ontario Provincial (OPP), with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit, Mount Forest, are investigating the theft of three (3) John Deere 'zero turn' lawnmowers from Premier Equipment located on Hwy. 6, just north of Mount Forest, in the Township of Southgate.

The theft occurred sometime between 6:30 p.m. on May 4th and 7:00 a.m. on May 5, 2017. The lawnmowers, having a total value of $19,000, were on display at the front of the building.

YOUTH ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT ON WORKER

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) - On May 4, 2017 at approximately 2:36 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault that occurred at the Bluewater Youth and Adult Services facility located on Sideroad 6 in the Township of Chatsworth.

The victim, a 23 year old female employee at the group home, was assaulted by a 14-year old male resident when she attempted to intervene between him and another youth in a verbal dispute. The victim suffered injuries to her face and required medical attention at a hospital.

The accused, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and transported to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment where he was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for today, May 5, 2017.

He is charged with assault causing bodily harm and mischief-destroys or damages property under the Criminal Code.

RESIDENTIAL GARAGE BREAK-IN

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) - On May 3, 2017 at 9:18 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a break, enter and theft from a residential garage located on 10 Sideroad between Hwy. 6 and Girl Guide Rd. in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The homeowner had observed an unknown male standing in their driveway earlier in the day but did not approach him. Later, it was discovered that several beer bottles, one full bottle of beer and a bag of fertilizer was missing from the garage. The suspect was described as wearing blue jeans and running shoes.

COTTAGE BREAK-IN

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) - On May 3, 2017 at 12:48 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a break, enter and theft from a cottage located on Grey Rd. 13, north of Eugenia, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

Sometime between May 1st and May 3rd, unknown person(s) forcibly entered the cottage and a shed on the property. The stolen items included an antique typewriter and an old chainsaw.
