RACING CHARGE

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) - On June 3, 2017 at approximately 8:45 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 9 near Harriston. The officer observed a male driving a 2004 Honda Accord travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 154 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

22-year-old Sawyer Martin CLIFF-SMITH of Georgetown has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on July 19, 2017.His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

SERIOUS COLLISION ON COUNTY ROAD 109

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH ON) - On June 15, 2017 approximately 3:45 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Wellington North Fire Department responded to a two vehicle collision on County 109, west of Arthur, Township of Wellington North.

Initial investigation indicates that a westbound red Ford pickup truck was stopped for a school bus when it was struck from behind by a Volkswagon Jetta. The driver of the car was trapped with serious injuries and was transported by Guelph-Wellington EMS to a local hospital.

The cause of the collision is currently being investigated by OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI). Highway 109 is closed between Sideroad 12 and Sideroad 15 and will remain closed for several hours.

THREE MEN CHARGED AFTER THEFT OF ATV

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) - On June 3, 2017at approximately 11:55 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of three suspicious males and a vehicle parked along County Road 109 near Concession 9. Police attended and located the three men and spoke with them.

Investigation revealed that they were in possession of a stolen ATV. Charged with Theft Under $5000 are:
20 year-old Kevin CARERE of Town of Minto
18 year-old Riley KLOOSTER of Mapleton Township
20 year-old Jason KUEPFER of Howick Township

Kevin CARERE was also charged with Young Driver Blood-alcohol above zero. They are to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 18, 2017 to answer to the charges.

UNLOCKED PICK UP TRUCK STOLEN

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) - On Tuesday June 6, 2017 at approximately 12:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a stolen pickup truck from a residence on Concession 9, west of Arthur.

The vehicle is a dark green 1999 Dodge Ram extended cab, short box, pickup truck, with dual exhaust and fifth wheel hitch. It was bearing Ontario marker 2255FD, a chrome bug deflector and fencing equipment in the cab. It was stolen with the keys in it, the morning of June 6, 2017.

The LOCK IT OR LOSE IT campaign is a crime prevention program that reminds the public to lock their vehicles and remove any valuables and keys from within. This helps reduce the motivation and likelihood of property crimes. If you do suspect that your vehicle has been entered please report it.

VEHICLE STOP LEADS TO DRUG CHARGES

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) - On June 6, 2017 at approximately 3:00 p.m. a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a 2006 Volkswagen Passat for a violation on Main Street, Mount Forest.

Investigation revealed that there were drugs inside of the vehicle. The female driver was in possession of drugs and was arrested. A male passenger was found to be in possession of 2 bags of marijuana. He was also breaching conditions of an earlier release and was wanted for failing to appear in court.

59-year-old Jennifer HERON of Hanover has been charged with:
Possession of Meth
Possession of Marijuana under 30 grams

She was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of July 18, 2017 at Guelph Criminal Court.

29 year-old Scott WEILER of Mount Forest has been charged with:
Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana)
Fail to Comply with Recognizance
Fail to Appear

He was held for bail court.
