MALE REFUSES TO PROVIDE BREATH SAMPLE - CHARGED

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On June 24, 2017 at approximately 2:30 a.m. a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was making patrols on Highway 6 near Sixth Line, Township of Centre Wellington.

The officer observed a white Pontiac Montana travelling southbound on Highway 6 at a high rate of speed. The officer stopped the motor vehicle and spoke with the driver. While speaking with the driver the officer formed grounds to believe that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to a local operation centre for testing.

23-year-old Jordan ELLIS of Guelph has been charged with Refuse to Provide Sample and Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 25, 2017 to answer to the charges.

MISCHIEF IN ERIN - LOOKING FOR PUBLIC ASSISTANCE

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) - During the early morning of Tuesday June 20, 2017 a small group of suspects believed to be all males in their late teens, removed a statue of a horse from McMullan Park in Erin. The placed the horse statue on the roof of a small hatchback car believed to have a sunroof.

The suspects drove approximately one kilometre to Erin District High School and entered the rear parking lot behind the school. The suspects then hoisted the horse up to the roof of the high school using ropes. The horse was placed over top of the front entrance at the school enabling staff and students to have a clear view of it later that morning.

Police believe a small group of individuals are responsible for this occurrence and are looking for anyone with any information regarding this or any other criminal activity to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Police are asking for assistance in identifying the individuals.

THEFT OF TRUCK TIRES AND RIMS

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On June 27, 2017 Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft of tires from Reliable Ford on Tower Street, Fergus.

Investigation revealed that overnight unknown suspect(s) removed four tires and rims from a 2016 Ford F-150 truck. The tires are ATM size 275/50/R20 and the rims are Ford branded six-spoke 20" pewter rims with Hankook Dynapro. The approximate value of the tires and rims is $5000. The theft is believed to have occurred around 4:00 a.m.

Police are currently examining evidence gathered from the scene and are asking any person with information regarding this to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

TWO MALES CHARGED WITH OVER 80 AND DANGERGOUS OPERATION ON BELWOOD LAKE

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On June 23, 2017 at approximately 4:40 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting Marine Patrol on Belwood Lake, Township of Centre Wellington. While patrolling westbound in the middle of the lake police observed two personal watercrafts traveling at a high rate of speed from over 300 metres away.

The vessels approached the police boat head on and appeared to be approximately two - three metres apart from each other. Police started to wave frantically to get the attention of the operators believing there would be a collision. One vessel veered to the left narrowly avoiding a collision and continued.

The other vessel veered to the right approximately 2 metres in front of the police while revving his engine. This resulted in one of the officers being showered with water inside the police vessel.

Police immediately directed the operators to stop their personal watercrafts. Upon interaction with the operators Police formed the opinion that they had consumed alcohol. Both operators were pulled to the closest dock where a roadside screening test was conducted. In both cases they resulted in a fail.

The operators were arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

20-year-old Danish MUKHTAR of Mississauga has been charged with Operate Vessel with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code and Dangerous Operation of a Vessel.

20-year-old Muhammed WASEY of Brampton has also been charged with Operate Vessel with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code and Dangerous Operation of a Vessel.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) was initiated as per statute. Both are to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 28, 2017 to answer to the charges.

THEFT OF BOATS - CHARGES LAID

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On June 10, 2017 at approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of two stolen boats and engines from the Belwood Lake Conservation Area.

The boats were stolen between June 9 and June 10 from a dock near the rental building of the Belwood Lake Conservation Area. Further investigation revealed a theft of gas over two nights as well.

Two suspects were identified through investigation and have since been arrested and charged in relation to these incidents.

18-year-old Aleksandra HATTLE of Belwood has been charged with Theft Over $5000 and Theft Under $5000 x 2. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court July 25, 2017 to answer to the charges.

28-year-old Adam HERMANUS of Belwood has been charged with Theft Over $5000, Theft Under $5000 x 2 and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court August 1, 2017 to answer to the charge.

One boat and engine were recovered through a search warrant while the second boat and engine are still outstanding.
