Break and enters

On the morning of July 13th, a Fair Road business owner reported to police that overnight a lone male went through the fence at the rear of the company's compound and went through vehicles in the yard. Electronic equipment was taken from one of the vehicles.

The property had video recording equipment that showed the suspect is a white male, medium height and build, approximately 20-25 years of age, wearing what appeared to be a blue hoodie with writing on the front, shorts down to his knees and runners. He appeared to have very short light coloured hair and it appears that he also has short facial hair, beard and moustache.

Sometime between 6pm on July 12th and 7am on the 13th an unknown suspect entered the fenced compound of a Monarch Road business and took electronic equipment from vehicles there.

Impaired driver

At approximately 4:50pm, police were in the area of Silvercreek Parkway and Willow Road to investigate information received about the driver of a Buick Allure that was believed to be impaired. The vehicle was located parked in a parking lot on Silvercreek Parkway where officers spoke with the driver.

The driver performed a roadside breath test from an approved screening device and failed. He was arrested and transported to the station where he failed two additional tests and was also found in possession of quantity of marihuana.

Douglas Richardson, a 61 year old resident of Guelph was charged with having care and control of a motor vehicle over .08mgs and possession of a controlled substance. He was later released to appear in court on July 28, 2017.

Wanted man flees

In the early evening hours of July 13th, GPS officers on patrol with bicycles observed a man downtown in St. George's Square that they knew was wanted for outstanding breach of probation charges.

When they approached the wanted man, he jumped into a car driven by another man and sped off. Uniform patrol officers in cruisers that were in the area attempted to stop the black Audi with Alberta licence plates, but it sped away, dodging in and out of traffic at high speeds. Due to safety concerns, police did not pursue any further and continue to investigate the men and vehicle involved.

Man found in back yard

Just after 7am on July 13th, an Inkerman Street resident confronted a male that he found in his back yard. The male then ran into a neighbour's yard and police were called. The neighbourhood was searched and the man was located a short time later. He appeared to under the influence of drugs.

The 26 year old Guelph man was arrested for trespassing and later released.

Calls for service

On July 13, 2017 the Guelph Police Service responded to 175 calls for service.

Fraud arrest

In April 2017, Guelph Police initiated an investigation into possible fraudulent activity involving a 94 year old victim. As a result of this investigation, on Wednesday July 12, 2017, Kimberley Haines, a 44 year old Guelph female, the sole proprietor of "Kimberley's Cleaning Service", was arrested and charged with fraud over $5000 and uttering a forged document.

It is unknown if the victim in this case was specifically targeted or if there are any more victims. If anyone has any information about this case or any others involving Haines, please contact D/Cst. Chris Probst at 519-824-1212 ext. 7342.
