DRIVER CHARGED FOLLOWING COLLISION ON HWY. 6 & 10

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) - On July 16, 2017 at approximately 11:10 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle collision involving a 2015 Nissan Sentra and a 2017 Acura RDX on Hwy. 6 & 10 near Division St. in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The Acura was travelling northbound on Hwy. 6 & 10 when it was struck by the south-facing Nissan when the driver had attempted to make a U-turn onto the highway from the west shoulder of the road.

Five people in the Acura, from Pickering, Ontario, were transported to hospital with minor injuries and released.

The driver of the Nissan, 75-year old Silvia MUELLER of Owen Sound, was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for Unsafe Move - Lane or Shoulder under the Highway Traffic Act. She was not injured in the collision.

DUMP TRUCK DAMAGES HYDRO POLE CLOSING HWY. 6

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) - On July 19, 2017 at approximately 2:35 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Hwy. 6 in the Township of Southgate after receiving a report that a dump truck had struck hydro lines causing damage to the pole and knocking out power in the area.

Police attended and found that a 2016 Volvo dump truck was working on road construction on Hwy. 6 at the time of the incident. The driver of the truck failed to lower the bucket and as a result the bucket came into contact with hydro lines pulling them down to near ground level.

Hydro One was contacted and attended the scene. Hwy. 6 between Grey Rd. 109 and McFarlin Drive was closed for several hours.

The driver of the dump truck, 66-year old Camille DESROCHERS, of Guelph, Ontario, was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for Over Height Load under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

There were no injuries reported.

E-BIKE OPERATOR CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) - On July 15, 2017 at approximately 9:56 p.m., Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report from a concerned citizen with respect to male, believed to be impaired, operating an e-bike on Main Street in Sauble Beach, South Bruce Peninsula.

Police located the suspect on Main Street near Second Avenue South and found him to be intoxicated. He was arrested and transported to the Bruce Peninsula OPP detachment for breath tests which he failed. Test results indicated his blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit.

45-year old William Gerald RITCHIE of Saugeen First Nation was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80 mgs.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on July 27, 2017.

LIFE THREATENING INJURIES - PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY DIRT BIKE

(TOWN OF SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) - On July 13, 2017 at approximately 10:23 p.m., Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), together with Bruce County Emergency Services (EMS), Grey County Emergency Services (EMS) and Town of South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department, responded to a serious collision involving a 2008 Lifan LS 150 dirt- bike and a pedestrian on Elm Street near Brown Street in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula (Wiarton).

Investigation revealed that the dirt-bike was traveling west bound on Elm Street when the operator lost control of the bike and struck the pedestrian. The dirt-bike did not have lights and was not licensed for use on public roads.

The operator of the dirt-bike, a 22-year old male and the pedestrian, an 81-year old male, sustained life threatening injuries. They were transported via ambulance to local hospital and then were both air-lifted to hospitals in Toronto. Both victims are from the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and is assisting with the investigation which is ongoing.

Elm Street was closed to traffic for several hours.

PICK-UP TRUCK REPORTED STOLEN

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH ON) - On July 14, 2017 at approximately 6:08 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a pick-up truck stolen from a driveway on Grey Road 25 in the Township of Chatsworth.

The vehicle, described as grey 2010 Dodge Ram, VIN: 3D7TT2HTXAG135875, with Ontario licence plates 3388FT and missing a tail-gate, was taken between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on July 14th.

The truck was unlocked and the keys were inside the vehicle.

SINGLE VEHICLE COLLISION - DRIVER CHARGED

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) - On July 18, 2017 at approximately 3:45 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Concession 3 near Sideroad 6 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs after the vehicle left the roadway and collided into a ditch.

The driver of the 2010 Hyundai ASE, 38-year old Jason George MCNABB of Chatsworth, was charged with careless driving, driving while under suspension, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on August 28, 2017.

STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) - On July 17, 2017 at approximately 4:05 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an abandoned vehicle on Grey Road 5 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Police attended and found that the vehicle, a grey 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, had been reported stolen to police earlier the same day. The vehicle had been taken from a residence located on Superior Street in the Municipality of Meaford sometime after 4:00 a.m. on July 17th.

THEFT OF ATV

(CARRICK TWP., SOUTH BRUCE, ON) - On July 12, 2017 at approximately 7:55 a.m., South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the theft of a green, 2012 Suzuki LXP ATV, serial number 5SAAM45P0C7102273, from an insecure shed located on Sideroad 35 in Carrick Township.
