DRIVER CHARGED AFTER COLLISION BETWEEN SUV AND MOTORCYCLE

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) - On July 31, 2017 at approximately 6:25 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving a Kia SUV and a motorcycle on Concession 9, Township of Wellington North.

Investigation revealed that a Kia SUV was travelling north bound on Concession 9 being followed by a Yamaha Motorcycle. The driver of the Kia pulled over to the right shoulder then executed a U-turn across the path of the motorcycle.

The operator of the motorcycle sustained minor injuries when he collided with the side of the SUV.

59-year-old Linda MAXWELL of Wellington North has been charged with Turn Not in Safety contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. She is to appear in Guelph Provincial Court to answer to the charge.

Wellington County OPP reminds drivers that they share the highway with many types of users. Not all vehicles operate at the same velocity, with the same visibility and with the same vulnerability as that of a typical passenger vehicle. From tractors and motorcycles to horse back and bikes, roadway safety is all users' responsibility.

POSSIBLY FATAL MISCHIEF TO VEHICLE

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) - On Monday August 1, 2017, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a mischief to passenger vehicle on William Street, Palmerston. It was reported that unknown suspect(s) had loosened the tires on the vehicle sometime before Saturday July 30, 2017.

The mischief was identified before loss or damages to person or property. OPP are actively seeking to identify if this is an isolated incident.

Wellington County OPP would like to remind the public that a vehicle, in anything less than 100% operational condition, could result in a fatally hazardous situation. Please routinely check your vehicle and ensure that no one has tampered with it. If you suspect your vehicle has been tampered with call your local police service and report it.

BANK ROBBERY IN DRAYTON

(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) - On Tuesday August 1, 2017 at approximately 4:00 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a robbery on Main Street East, Drayton.

It was a reported a male wearing a disguise entered the RBC Bank with a weapon and stole an undetermined amount of cash. He left on foot eastbound on Main Street.

The suspect is described as being: Male, Caucasian, Thin build, Wearing a dark blue ball cap with Montreal Canadiens logo on the front, Khaki shorts which fell below knee, Grey t-shirt and a Black Bandanna covering his face.

OPP are actively investigating this incident. Investigators are considering that the same suspect may be responsible for a bank robbery which occurred in Milverton on July 25, 2017.
