Military Lecture Series at Guelph Civic Museum

GUELPH, ON, October 11, 2017: Guelph Museums and Laurier Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies have announced the first speakers for the 2017-2018 Military Lecture Series at Guelph Civic Museum.

The series begins Thursday, October 19 when Eric Story presents `The Twin Legacies of War: Indigenous Veterans, Colonialism and Political Activism, 1914-1939'. Story is a research associate at Laurier Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies. He is a professional researcher and writer with many published works about early 20th century Canada.

Mike Bechthold speaks Thursday, November 16 about `Bloody April: The Air Battle Over Vimy and Arras in 1917'. Bechthold is the managing editor of Canadian Military History and the communications director of the Laurier Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies. He teaches military history at Wilfrid Laurier University and has published many articles about the First and Second World Wars.

The series continues in January 2018.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with lectures beginning at 7:00 p.m. Admission for the lectures is by donation. Guelph Civic Museum is located at 52 Norfolk Street, Guelph.
