Georgian Bluffs - A Georgian Bluffs man has been airlifted to London Health Sciences after a crash early this morning (11-Aug-05) left him with head injuries.
The crash occurred at about 6:45am at the intersection of Highway 21 and the Grey-Bruce Town Line. A northbound Toyota SUV, driven by 22-year-old Brent Latimer of Georgian Bluffs, entered the intersection after stopping at the stop sign on the Town Line. A westbound 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Highway 21, operated by 48-year-old Kevin Leblanc of Georgian Bluffs could not avoid the S.U.V. in his path and struck it. Evidence indicates that the morning sun played a factor in the crash. The Inter-Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Leblanc was wearing a helmet and, although conscious at the scene, complications have necessitated the transfer to London. The driver of the SUV was suffered minor injuries and did not require ambulance transport.
The driver of the SUV was charged with failing to yield to traffic on through highway, contrary to section 136(1)(b) of the Highway Traffic Act. Constable Mike Ouwendyk is the investigating member.
Constable Ouwendyk would like to speak to the male driver of a blue Chrysler Neon who stopped at the scene but left without speaking to investigators. It is believed he may have witnessed the incident and Grey County O.P.P. would appreciate it if he contacts them at 1-888-310-1122.
