Motor Vehicle Collision-On April 26th, 2010 at 12:50 pm Guelph Police Traffic officers
responded to Emma Street and Marlborough Road Guelph with regard to a personal
injury motor vehicle collision.
Investigation revealed that a pick-up truck was struck while on Emma Street when a
Chrysler Sebring exited a private drive. The driver of the Chrysler Sebring sustained
minor injuries. A 58 year old Stratford male passenger in the Chrysler Sebring was
transported to hospital with major, non-life threatening injuries.
The 46 year old driver of the Chevrolet Pick-Up Truck was not injured. Total damage
was estimated at $20,000.
The 62 year old female from Grand Bend was charged with Fail to Yield From
Private Driveway
Excessive Speed Results in 7-Day Driver's License Suspension and Vehicle Seizure-
On April 26th 2010 at 10:18 pm Guelph Police Traffic officers were conducting radar on
Speedvale Avenue West (west of Elmira Road North) in the northwest corner of the city
where the posted speed was 60 km/h zone.
The officer observed a Toyota Camry travelling eastbound on Speedvale Avenue West at
a high rate of speed and recorded a reading of 115 km/h (in a 60 km/h zone) on the radar
unit. This motor vehicle had passed a number of other eastbound motor vehicles as it
approached the 60 km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped without incident.
A 32 year old Kitchener man faces charges of Stunt Driving: Excessive Speed and
Speeding. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Offences Court in June
2010.
REMINDER: The charge of Stunt Driving - Excessive Speed was introduced in
September 2007 as part of the Safer Roads for a Safer Ontario Act (Bill 203) and carries
with it a mandatory 7 day Administrative Driver's License Suspension and 7 day motor
vehicle impoundment.
Provincial Seatbelt Campaign-The twelve day provincial Seat Belt Campaign concluded on
Sunday the 25th of April, 2010. Guelph Police issued 187 Provincial Offence Notices
(tickets) for seat belt infractions within our city limits over this campaign period. Officers also
issued 38 tickets for hand held device offences within the same timeframe.
