POLICE INVESTIGATE ROBBERY
On May 19th, 2010 at 9:41pm two females were waiting for the bus at Imperial Road North and Paisley Road. A group of four people approached them. Two females from this group began punching the one woman waiting for the bus. They then pulled out lighters and began waving them in both of the woman's faces. During this altercation, one of the victims had dropped her phone. This was picked up by the two suspect females who left the area with it.
Suspect one is described as white, 16-17 years old, 5'5", bigger build, wearing a loose orange shirt and jeans. She had dark hair and a pony tail. Suspect two is described as white, thin build, pony tails to the sides, wearing a white shirt and light wash jeans.

STORE ROBBED AT KNIFEPOINT
On Wednesday May 19th, 2010 at 5:26 a.m. a man entered a convenience store located in the plaza at 90 Gordon Street. The man demanded money and cigarettes while brandishing a steak knife. A small quantity of cash and cigarettes was given to the man who then fled the area. Guelph Police arrived quickly and a canine track was conducted. This man was not located. He is described as white, 5'8", 140 lbs, reflective sun glasses, dark hooded sweater, dark pants, and light colored running shoes. Police investigation is ongoing.

TWO CARS TOTALLED IN ACCIDENT
On Wednesday May 19, 2010 at 2:56pm, a blue 2007 Saturn, driven by a 41 year old Puslinch woman was westbound on Eastview approaching Watson Py N. A 2003 Ford pickup truck, driven by a 40 year old Elora man, was northbound on Watson parkway. The driver of the Saturn failed to stop for the stop sign and continued into the intersection at approximately 60 km/h.
The Saturn struck the Ford pickup truck on the left side causing it to spin out of control. The pickup truck then struck a hydro pole near the intersection. Both vehicles were completely demolished. A fuel tank was ruptured on one of the vehicles and Environment Protection attended to clean the gasoline spill. Eastview Road, east of the intersection was closed for about an hour. Total damage is estimated at $10,000. Both drivers were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Saturn was charged with "Fail to Yield to Traffic on Through Highway" under the Highway Traffic Act.
CAR CRASHES INTO HOUSE
On Wednesday May 19, 2010 at 10:20am, a 92 year old Guelph man was driving a 1998 Toyota eastbound on Emma St. The driver failed to see a stop sign at Metcalfe. The Toyota struck the left side of a 2002 Chrysler driven by a 58 year old Guelph female. The driver of the Chrysler then lost control and veered off the road striking a house and its gas meter. The gas meter was damaged causing a considerable leak. The immediate area was evacuated and the intersection was closed for an hour while Union Gas dealt with the problem. As a result of this collision, both of the cars and the house sustained significant damage which is estimated at $10,000. The driver of the Chrysler was taken to hospital complaining of neck pain and was subsequently released with minor injuries. The 92 year old driver was charged with "Fail to Yield to Traffic on Through Highway" under the Highway Traffic Act.

EXCESSIVE SPEED RESULTS IN VEHICLE SEIZURE
On Thursday May 20th, 2010 at 12:09am a yellow Ford Mustang car was observed driving at a high rate of speed south bound on The Hanlon Expressway, by a member of the Guelph Police Traffic Services Unit. That car continued to accelerate while Police followed it. The Police mobile radar unit was activated and registered a speed of 131 km/h in a 70 km/h zone. The Mustang was stopped at Stone Road without incident.
A 23 year old Guelph man faces charges of Stunt Driving: Excessive Speed and Speeding. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Offences Court in June 2010.
The charge of Stunt Driving: Excessive Speed was introduced in September 2007 as part of the Safer Roads for a Safer Ontario Act (Bill 203) and carries with it a mandatory 7 day administrative driver's license suspension and 7 day motor vehicle impoundment.
CYCLIST STRUCK BY CAR
On May 19th, 2010 at 3:30pm a female cyclist was riding on the sidewalk when she entered the intersection at Elizabeth Street and Stevenson Street. A car turning at this intersection struck her as she came onto the roads pedestrian crossing area. The cyclist was transported to hospital with minor injuries. Charges are pending once the Police investigation is complete.
The Guelph Police would like to remind cyclists to stay off sidewalks and to wear the proper safety equipment.
