1. Death Investigation-On July 20th, 2010 at approximately 2:03 pm, Guelph Emergency Services were called to 90 Carden Street Guelph to investigate the death of a 23 year old female. The female was found inside a residence and the cause of death is under investigation. The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time for investigative reasons. During this investigation information came to light that led investigators to arrest an individual for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance.

UPDATE:
Investigators believe the deceased and the male charged with the drug trafficking offence – Marnie BAARTMAN, were known to each other. The Guelph Police wish to confirm that the deceased was found in BAARTMAN's residence.

2. Drug Arrest- On July 21st, 2010 the Guelph Police Service Coordinated Enforcement Team entered into an investigation into drug trafficking in the City of Guelph. A search warrant was executed at a residence on Dawson Road Guelph and a male was arrested. Douglas NORTON 52 years of Guelph was charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and will appear in court in September.

Assault-Arrest-On July 22nd, 2010 at 6:59 pm, Guelph Police responded to a disturbance in an alleyway on MacDonnell Street Guelph. Investigation revealed that a male approached two individuals that were known to him and became involved in a heated argument. During the argument the suspect punched the female in the face and then attacked the male that was with her. The male tried to defend himself but was over powered, knocked to the ground where the suspect straddled him and repeatedly punched him in the face. The suspect was apprehended a short time later. The male victim was transported to hospital where he was treated for severe injuries to his face. The female victim sustained scratches to her face. Daniel HASTINGS 26 years of Guelph was charged with Assault and Assault Cause Bodily Harm and was held for a Bail Hearing.
