1. THREE SHOPLIFTERS ARRESTED
On July 23rd, 2010 at 3pm Guelph Police attended to a business on Paisley Road to
assist store security with three possible shoplifters. Security was observing these three
individuals as they concealed products into bags on their cart. Guelph Police stood by
until security advised that the persons had now left the store and had made no attempt
to pay for the items in the bags. Officers immediately located and arrested the group.
All stolen product was recovered; it was valued at $1450.61.
Lachlan Bell 22 years of Guelph, Koadie Davidson 19 years of Guelph and Jessica
Stumpf 18 years of Guelph were all charged with Theft Under $5000 and Possession of
Stolen Property Under $5000.
2. DRIVER TEXTING LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING ARREST
On July 25th, 2010 at 5:19pm Guelph Police observed a man texting on his cell phone
while he was driving his jeep north bound on Victoria Road. As a result of the recently
introduced hands free laws the vehicle was stopped for the violation. While speaking
with the driver police detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. An approved road
side screening device was used and the driver failed. The man was subsequently
arrested. He was transported to the Guelph Police station where he provided samples of
his breath and registered readings more than 2 times the legal limit.
Shawn Fraser 35 years of Alma was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over
80mg. He will appear in Court in September.
