Grey County OPP Reports - October 23, 2012

COMPUTER STOLEN FROM VEHICLE
(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On Saturday, October 20, 2012, Grey County Ontario Police (OPP) received a report of a theft of a lap top computer from a vehicle parked at a residence on Balmy Beach Road, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Some time between 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19 and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012, unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and stole an IBM T400 lap top computer, serial number R8LBGLC. The computer is dark gray in colour and has a bar located on the back which may be used in a docking station. Also taken was a LG smart phone in a gray case and some change.

Police remind the public to lock their vehicles and not to leave valuables in plain view.

Anyone with information which may assist is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Constable Krystin OLSEN is the investigating officer.

SPEEDER CHARGED WITH OVER 80 MG
(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On Sunday, October 21, 2012, at approximately 2:49 p.m., a member of the Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle for speeding on Concession 8 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands. The driver of the vehicle appeared to have been drinking alcohol.

After registering a "fail" on the approved road side screening device, the driver was arrested and taken to the Markdale OPP Detachment for breath tests. The test results indicated a blood/alcohol content more than double the legal limit.

Robert J. PHILLIPS, 55, of Grey Highlands, was charged with operating a motor vehicle - over 80 milligrams. His driver's licence was suspended and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on November 8, 2012.
