PICKUP ON WRONG SIDE OF ROAD
(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Sunday October 28, 2012, shortly before 3 a.m., a Perth County OPP officer on patrol observed an older model Dodge pickup truck driving south bound on Hwy 23 through Atwood, on the wrong side of the road.

The officer pulled over the truck and arrested the female driver for impaired operation. The driver was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville where she failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

Henrica Kuijpers (19) of Adelaide-Metcalfe Twp. has been charged with "impaired operation of a motor vehicle", and "operation with over 80 mgs of alcohol". She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on November 26, 2012, to answer to these charges. She received an automatic 90 day driver's licence suspension, and her pickup truck was impounded for seven days.

FEMALE DRIVER SMOKES THROUGH OPP RIDE CHECK
(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) Shortly before midnight on Saturday October 27, 2012, Perth County OPP officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) program at the intersection of Perth Road 119 and Line 45 in Gadshill.

At that time a thirty one year old female driver from Stratford approached the officers in her vehicle, while smoking a cigarette. As the officer spoke with the driver he observed two young children in the vehicle. The driver was advised to extinguish the cigarette and was served a $155 ticket for "having lighted tobacco in motor vehicle while another person less than 16 years old was present".

Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday October 28, 2012, a male driver was stopped at the same R.I.D.E. program location. The odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected on his breath, he was subsequently administered a roadside breath test on which he registered a blood alcohol concentration reading from .05 to .08. As a result of this reading his drivers licence was seized and suspended for 3 days.

Motorists should not be surprised to see Perth County OPP R.I.D.E. programs any day of the week at any time of day.
