TWO VEHICLE COLLISION – CHILD INJURED
Guelph Police Traffic officers are continuing to investigate a collision on Silvercreek Pkwy North that sent a 25 year old Guelph mother and her 2 year old daughter to hospital on Wednesday afternoon. At 2:04 pm, a Jeep Cherokee was exiting the Food Basics plaza when it was struck by a White GMC pick-up truck, driven by a 34 year old Waterloo man.

The child sitting in the back seat of the Jeep, properly restrained in her child car seat, was injured in the collision. She was immediately transported to the General Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She remains there in stable condition. Her mother was also transported to hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries. The road was closed until approximately 8pm while traffic officers reconstructed the collision.

The family of the young girl and the Police would like to thank the many people who assisted at this collision to render first aid. They would also like to thank Victim Services, Centre Wellington Food Bank and Walmart for their support to the family after the collision. Two good Samaritans who had assisted with first aid at the scene subsequently showed up at the hospital and provided the family with new child car seats and groceries for the family.

Police would especially like to speak with the driver of a large size delivery truck which was stopped on Silvercreek in front of the Food Basics store at the time of the collision. HIT AND RUN
On October 31, 2012 at 4:45pm, Guelph Police received a complaint that a car travelling east on London Road West had left the roadway, struck a sign and left the scene. Police spoke with several witnesses who provided a description: a small black car, possibly a Honda Civic. It will have substantial damage to its' front right corner. The car was driven by a male and there was a female passenger.

The estimated damage to the sign is approximately $250 Police are asking anyone that may have witnessed the collision to contact Cst. Greg Mitchell of the traffic unit at 519-824-1212 ext 7170. VEHICLE PURSUIT - ARREST
On October 31, 2012 at 1028am Guelph Police were involved in a motor vehicle pursuit of a vehicle involved in a hit and run outside of the city. OPP were investigating a collision and requested assistance by Guelph Police in finding the responsible car. Guelph Police located the car on Elmira Road travelling northbound at a high rate of speed. The vehicle failed to stop for Police and continued driving on Elmira and onto Woodlawn Road.

The vehicle drove through red lights and into oncoming lanes striking another car in an attempt to flee police. The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed northbound through the Robinson motor's parking lot, nearly striking a pedestrian before stopping at the northwest corner of the parking lot. The suspect fled the vehicle briefly on foot but was arrested by Guelph Police. There were no injuries as a result of the suspect's vehicle striking a car at Woodlawn and Elmira.

At 43 year old man from the Breslau area was charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police, Fail to Stop at the Scene of an Accident, Take Motor Vehicle without Consent, Drive Motor Vehicle No Licence, Red Light – Fail to Stop x2, and Drive while Under Suspension.

The driver is facing further charges with OPP.
