Updated - Pedestrian Injured in Hit and Run

The Police have made an arrest in the hit and run investigation

On Thursday November 1, 2012 at 2:05 a.m., Guelph Police received a report of a pedestrian struck on Gordon Street South Guelph. The involved vehicle fled the scene, continuing southbound on Gordon Street where it failed to negotiate a turn onto University Avenue and struck a utility pole.

The suspect fled the badly damaged vehicle and hailed a taxicab. The suspect was arrested a short time later at a residence in Puslinch and treated for minor injuries sustained in the collision.

The 21-year-old male victim from Barrie was treated at the Guelph General Hospital and later airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital's trauma unit.

Damage to the vehicle and utility pole is estimated at $25,000.

Chase HACKWELL 21 years of Puslinch was charged with Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm, Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm, Failing to Remain at the Scene of a Collision Causing Bodily Harm and Failing to Remain at the Scene of a Collision in relation to collision with the utility pole.He was held for a Bail Hearing.
