Recall - Master Forge Four-Burner Pedestal Gas Grill
Web posted on November 02, 2012
This recall involves "Master Forge" Four-Burner Pedestal Gas Grills. The recalled grill has the brand name "Master Forge" printed on the grill hood. It has a black enamel shroud, stainless steel control panel, stainless steel door, and fold-down side tables. The model number GD4825 is located on a label inside the left front door of the grill.
If the regulator/hose assembly that connects to the liquid propane (LP) gas tank is installed improperly, the hose can come into contact with the burner box, causing the hose to melt and rupture when the grill is lit. This poses a fire and burn hazard to consumers.
The recall product was manufactured in China by Guangdong Vanward Electric Co., Ltd., of China and imported to Canada by Lowe's Companies Canada, ULC of Toronto, Ontario. Approximately 569 of the recalled gas grills were sold at Lowe's stores across Canada. The recalled gas grills were sold from November 2011 to May 2012.
Guangdong Vanward Electric Company has received two reports of the grill catching fire. No injuries have been reported. Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these gas grills.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled gas grills and inspect them to make sure that the gas hose runs along the outside of the grill cabinet and passes through a hole in the side panel to connect to the LP gas tank.
Consumers should also contact Vanward to receive a free set of revised instructions and a warning label to apply to the grill that shows the proper routing of the hose and regulator.
