Recall - Dawgs Shoe Tag Charms

This recall involves all styles of Dawgs metallic shoe charms. The charms have snaps that attach through holes in shoes. The affected product was imported by Double Diamond Distributors of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The time period during which the recalled shoe charms were sold is unknown. An unknown quantity of shoe charms was sold in Canada.

Health Canada's sampling and testing program revealed that the shoe charms contain lead in excess of allowable limits. In addition, the shoe charms contain cadmium in excess of guidance levels proposed recently by Health Canada.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled shoe charms away from children and dispose of the item in their regular household waste.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of this product. For additional information, consumers may call the company's toll free number at 1-877-663-2947.







Under the Children's Jewellery Regulations of the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, it is illegal to import, advertise or sell jewellery items that appeal primarily to children under 15 years of age and contain more than 600 mg/kg total lead.

Lead is very toxic to children, even at low exposure levels. Children can ingest lead when they chew, suck, or swallow jewellery items containing lead which can cause damage to their bodies. Potential health effects associated with exposure to high levels of lead include vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions, coma or even death.
