Guelph Hydro Movember Team Raises $6,000

(GUELPH, ON) December 5, 2012 – Guelph Hydro's 30-man Movember team raised $6,000 to help fight the battle against prostate cancer and men's mental health thanks to a challenge issued by long-time mustaioed, Barry Chuddy, CEO of Guelph Hydro Inc. Chuddy, who has sported a handlebar moustache for almost four decades, was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice and shave off his moustache if the team could raise $5,000.

Spurred on by the challenge, Guelph Hydro employees and sponsors raised an impressive $6,024.57 for the Movember cause. Chris Pace from Carbon Hair Studio in Guelph, who donated his time, took a razor to Chuddy's lip in front of a cheering crowd of employees and, in less than five minutes, the moustache was a mere pile of whiskers on the floor.

"The response by our staff at Guelph Hydro to raise funds for prostate cancer and men's health was remarkable," said Barry Chuddy, CEO, Guelph Hydro Inc. "I'm glad I could help out by providing a bit of incentive, but my wife and family have never seen me without a moustache and I'm a little concerned they may not recognize me."
