OPP Charge Speeder on Highway 6

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) On Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 6:38 am, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit were conducting speed radar enforcement and monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Paisley Road in the City of Guelph.

At this time and location Constable Adam Houser observed a northbound motor vehicle that was travelling at a speed well above the speed limit. Police clocked the 2008 Honda on radar at 145 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

Police stopped the motor vehicle, spoke with the driver and discovered that he had been drinking. The driver was administered a Roadside Screening Device test, which resulted in a fail.

Zarko Tolj aged 25 of Guelph has been charged with Over 80mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Race Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on January 18, 2013 to answer to the charges.
