The recalled sleepwear does not meet the flammability requirements for children's sleepwear under Canadian law. Consumers should immediately stop using the sleepwear and may return the nightgowns to the retailer from whom they purchased the recalled sleepwear.

The affected garments were manufactured in China by QingDao Starriver International Trading CO. Ltd of HongKong, China and distributed through Can Am Trading Company Ltd of Brampton, Ontario. Approximately 490 units of the recalled nightgowns were sold in Canada. The recalled nightgowns were sold from 2008 to 2012.

Children's sleepwear that is loose fitting or that has loose edges can contact ignition sources such as stove elements, candles, and matches more easily than tight-fitting sleepwear. Once ignited the sleepwear can burn rapidly and cause severe burns to large areas of the child's body, resulting in shock and sometimes death.

Health Canada has not received reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of the affected products.
