Guelph Police Reports - January 07, 2013

On January 4, 2013 at 4:30pm, members of the Guelph Police Service Coordinated Enforcement Team were conducting proactive patrol when they observed a drug transaction between two men in the area of Willow Road and Bagot Street. Both men were arrested. A quantity of Marijuana as well as $650.00 cash was seized during the arrest.

Nicolaas BOS 26 years of Guelph, was charged with trafficking a controlled substance.

Earnest Engleby 64 years of Guelph, was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Both will appear in court in February.


The Guelph Police are investigating a collision that occurred on January 4, 2013 at 3:00pm at Woodlawn Road and Woolwich Street. A grey, 1999 Chevrolet Van struck a blue 2012 Kia Rio causing severe damage to the vehicles. Both drivers were transported to Guelph General Hospital with minor injuries.

On January 5, 2013 at 10:20pm a Guelph Police Traffic Officer was operating moving radar on Speedvale Ave East. This section of Speedvale is a 50km/h zone. The officer observed a motor vehicle travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed and recorded a reading of 104 Km/hr. The involved vehicle was stopped without incident.

A 32 year old Kitchener man faces charges of speeding and stunt driving a motor vehicle at excessive speed. His motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days and his driver's licence was also seized for 7 days. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Offences Court in March 2013.


On January 5, 2013 at 5:45pm, Guelph Police, Fire and Paramedics were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Eramosa Road. Investigation revealed a black Oldsmobile was east bound on Eramosa Road when it attempted to turn left into the parking lot of Bullfrog Mall. The Olds had turned into the path of a west bound Dodge van and was subsequently struck by the van.

Two adult females and one child who were in the van were transported to the Guelph General Hospital for minor injuries. Three other children in the van were not injured. The driver of the Olds and a passenger, were also uninjured in the collision. Both vehicles sustained approximately $10,000 in damages. The driver of the Olds was charged with Turn Not in Safety under the Highway Traffic Act.


On January 6, 2013 at 1:23am, Guelph Police were on foot patrol in the downtown area and encountered a man who was shouting and screaming. The officer attempted to arrest the man who resisted by grabbing the officer's clothing. The male had been drinking and received minor injuries during the arrest. The officer was not injured.

Andrew PROUM 20 years of Guelph was charged with cause disturbance by shouting, assault police and resist arrest. He will attend court in February 2013.


On Sunday January 6, 2013 at 9:45am, a 2010 grey Hyundai Elantra being driven by a 21-year old Guelph man was southbound on Silvercreek Parkway North when it fishtailed as it attempted to make a left turn onto Ajax Street. A 2004 grey Chevy Impala being driven by a 59-year old woman swerved in an attempt to avoid a collision.

The Elantra was struck on its driver's side by the Impala, forcing both vehicles off the roadway and onto the sidewalk. Damage to both vehicles is estimated at $15,000. The driver of the Impala suffered minor injuries but did not require medical assistance on scene.
