Recall - Platinum Supply Transformers

This recall involves neon power supply transformers designed to power commercial signs. They are in black metal boxes about 11.5 centimetres (4.5 inches) long by 9 centimetres (3.5 inches) wide with rows of vents on all sides. "HEICO LIGHTINGTM" and the model information are printed on a plate on the transformer. The recalled models include PLATINUM-9000-30, PLATINUM-10000-30, PLATINUM-12000-30, TFT-04PL-6000-30, and TFT-06PL-9000-30.
The transformers have been modified from their original approved versions and have not been evaluated to meet the Canadian Safety electrical standards for these products. The modified transformers may pose a fire hazard.
Consumers should stop using these recalled power supply transformers and unplug them immediately until a free replacement transformer has been professionally installed. Contact HEICO lightingTM to schedule the free installation of a replacement certified transformer.
The affected transformers were sold from December 2011 to May 2012 and were manufactured in Canada by Heico lighting of Saint-Eustache, Quebec. Approximately 800 units of the affected transformers were sold across Canada.
Neither Health Canada nor Heico lightingTM has received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this transformer.
