FIRE AT MEAFORD GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB
(MEAFORD, ON) - On Monday, January 21, 2013, at approximately 7:09 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a fire at the Meaford Golf and Country Club on Ridge Road in Meaford.

The fire, which appears to have started in the main building, was extinguished by the Meaford Fire Department, who is still at the scene.

There was one individual inside the building who was able to get out safely. There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire and the estimated damage to the building is unknown at this time.

ASSAULT WITH WEAPON
(MEAFORD, ON) On Sunday, January 20, 2013 at approximately 4:28 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an altercation between two males at an apartment on Sykes St. N., Meaford in the Municipality of Meaford.

Police arrived and found that the two men, who had been drinking, were involved in a physical altercation when one of them threatened the other with a knife.

A 34 year old Meaford man is charged with assault with a weapon. He was held custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for today, Monday, January 21, 2013.

The victim, a 34 year old Kirkland Lake man, formerly of Meaford, was not injured.
