Grey County Fatal Vehicle Collision - January 23, 2013

(CHATSWORTH, ON) - The driver of the Jeep involved in the collision on Grey Road 16 and Concession 6 in the Township of Chatsworth earlier this date, has been identified as Bruce John MARLER, 63, of Wiarton, South Bruce Peninsula.

Grey Road 16 was been re-opened.

Police do not anticipate any charges.

(CHATSWORTH, ON) - On Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at approximately 10:17 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Grey Road 16 and Concession 6 in the Township of Chatsworth.

A 2009 Jeep Patriot, travelling northbound on Concession 6, proceeded through the intersection and was struck by a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck travelling eastbound on Grey Road 16.

The driver of the Jeep, a 63 year old Wiarton man, was transported via ambulance to the Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre in Owen Sound where he was pronounced dead. A female passenger in the Jeep was also transported to hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet pick-up, a 45 year old Port Elgin man, and three passengers, were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is at the scene continuing the investigation.

Grey Road 16 from Concession 3 west to Concession 7 and Grey Road 16 from Concession 5 north to Side Road 3 is expected to be closed for approximately 2 hours.
