Perth County Vehicle Collisions - February 04, 2013

TWO COLLISIONS AT THE SAME LOCATION
(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Friday February 01, 2013 around the lunch hour, Perth County OPP officers in Listowel were kept busy with two collisions on Perth Line 86 east of Listowel.

Around 11:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to Perth Line 86, just west of Road 153 to investigate a two vehicle crash. A Hino truck owned by a leasing company was stopped behind a tractor trailer that was stopped in the east bound lane, waiting to make a left turn. An east bound Pontiac Sunfire struck the back of the Hino truck.

The 53 year old male driver of the Sunfire, a Municipality of North Perth resident was transported to Listowel General Hospital with minor injuries. It was snowing and there was drifting snow at the time of the collsion. The 56 year old male driver from Cambridge who was operating the delivery truck did not sustain injuries as a result of the impact.

At 12:54 p.m., while officers were investigating the first crash, a similar collision took place just west of the initial crash. A Jeep Wrangler with two female occupants from Walkerton was stopped in the east bound lane of Perth Line 86 when they were struck from behind by a Dodge Ram pickup truck operated by a 56 year old male from Elmira.

Traffic was reduced to a single lane as both collisions were investigated and the involved vehicles were removed from the scene.

HEAD-ON CRASH NEAR MONKTON
(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Sunday February 03, 2013, shortly after 8 p.m., Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a two vehicle head-on collision on Hwy 23, north of Line 57.

Investigation indicated that a north bound Chevrolet automobile entered onto the south bound lane of Hwy 23. The driver of a Chevrolet SUV driving southbound on Hwy 23 observed the oncoming vehicle enter her lane and attempted to avoid the collision by edging her vehicle towards the west shoulder of the road. The vehicles collided in the south bound lane.

The driver of the Chevrolet automobile as well as the 3 occupants of the SUV, were transported to Listowel Memorial Hospital by Perth County Ambulance.

The19 year old male driver of the automobile a Grey Twp. resident sustained minor injuries. The 38 year old female driver of the SUV a Municipality of Blue Water resident was treated for minimal injuries.

A 24 year old female passenger a resident of South Huron sustained minor injuries while a 12 year old female passenger from the Municipality of Blue Water received treatment for minimal injuries.

The 19 year old male driver has been charged with careless driving. It was snowing and there was loose snow on the road at the time of the collision.

IMPAIRED DRIVER FACES CHARGES
(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Saturday February 02, 2013, at approximately 10:20 p.m. Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Hwy 23 and Perth Line 24 (north of Russeldale).

A Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck had been driving south bound on Hwy 23 as it entered the ditch at the Perth Line 24 intersection. The male driver left the vehicle and made his way to his nearby residence. Shortly thereafter the male was arrested at this residence for impaired driving and was transported to the Perth County Detachment in Sebringville where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

David MCKAY (37) of the Municipality of West Perth has been charged with Impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and operation of a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. He is scheduled to appear in Stratford Court on Monday March 11, 2013 to answer to these charges. His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle has been impounded for 7 days.

PICKUP CRASHES INTO RESIDENCE
(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Monday February 04, 2013, shortly before 10 a.m., Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision along Perth Road 107 just south of Line 51.

Investigation revealed that Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck had been driving north bound on Perth Road 107 when it moved over to the east shoulder and lost control. It drove across the north and south bound lanes, crossed the west shoulder and left the roadway striking the back of a residence located on the south west corner of Perth Road 107 and Line 51.

The 27 year old male driver of the pickup truck, a Stratford resident was not injured as a result of the collision. The two occupants of the home were also not injured. No charges have been laid as a result of this collision.
