OPP Make Arrest in Meaford Break In - February 06, 2013

(MEAFORD, ON) - On Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at approximately 8:53 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break-in at the Meaford Factory Outlet located on Cook Street, Meaford, in the Municipality of Meaford.

Sometime over night on January 29th, the building was forcibly entered. Once inside, the suspect entered the locked office and unsuccessfully attempted to open the store safe. The suspect left the building with some chocolate bars and a small amount of cash.

Using the store's surveillance video, police were able to identify the suspect as Matthew Joseph KYDD, 20, of Meaford. An arrest warrant was obtained after police were unable to locate him.

On Monday, February 4, 2013 at 1:00 p.m., police observed KYDD walking on Thompson Street in Meaford at which time he was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

He is charged with break and enter, and mischief under the Criminal Code.
