Speeder charged - 90 km/hr over the speed limit
On February 6, 2013, at 10:02 p.m., a member of the Guelph Police Traffic Division observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed entering the Hanlon Parkway southbound from Wellington Street West. Police activated a moving radar device and registered a speed reading of 160 km/hr. in the posted 70 km/hr. zone. The vehicle was stopped without incident.

A 31 year old male from Milton was charged with Stunt Driving Excessive Speed and Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The male's driver's licence was suspended for 7 days as well the vehicle being operated was seized for 7 days.

Three vehicle collision
On February 6, 2013, at 4:42 p.m., a collision occurred in the intersection of Woolwich Street and London Road. Investigation alleges that a Pontiac was travelling northbound through a red light when it was struck by an eastbound Toyota. The initial collision caused the Pontiac to collide with a southbound GMC pickup truck. The intersection was closed for northbound traffic for approximately one hour while Police conducted their investigation.

The driver of the Pontiac was transported to the Guelph General Hospital with minor injuries. The involved vehicles sustained approximately $28,000 in damages. A 70 year old female from Guelph was charged with Red Light Fail to Stop contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Two vehicle collision
On February 6, 2013 at 7:48 p.m., Guelph Police attended to Wellington Street and Edinburgh Road to investigate a two car collision. Investigation alleges that a male resident of Windsor was driving a 2012 Hyundai west bound on Wellington Street. As he turned left onto Edinburgh Road he was struck by an SUV travelling eastbound on Wellington Street.

The damage to the vehicles is estimated at approximately $28,000. The driver of the SUV was transported to the Guelph General Hospital by Guelph Wellington EMS with minor neck injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was charged with turn not in safety. Any witnesses to this collision are asked to contact Cst. Dave ALLEN of the Traffic Division at 519-824-1212 Ext #7155
