Grey County Youth Faces Mulitple Charges

(MEAFORD, ON) - On Thursday, February 7, 2013, at approximately 4:36 p.m., Grey County Ontario Police (OPP) received a threats report from a residence in the Municipality of Meaford resulting in the arrest of a 14 year old male youth who now faces several criminal charges.

The youth was in the passenger seat of his mother's vehicle where he became angry after she had refused to drive him to a friend's residence. He produced a small pocket knife, threatening the victim with it. He began kicking the windshield of the car and smashed the rear view mirror.

He then tried to take control of the steering wheel but the victim was able to maintain control of the vehicle and returned to the residence to call police. While the victim was inside the residence, the youth drove away in the vehicle. He returned a short time later at which time he was arrested by police.

The youth faces charges several criminal charges including, taking motor vehicle without consent, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, utter threat to cause death or bodily harm x2; mischief under $5,000 and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Tuesday, February 26, 2013.
