Two People Arrested for Multiple Charges - Feb. 14, 2013

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TWP, ON) - On Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 4:14 am, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers investigated the occupants of a rental vehicle that was travelling on Speedvale Avenue near the Guelph-Woolwich Townline in Guelph-Eramosa Twp.

Investigation revealed that the male driver was currently suspended from driving under the Highway Traffic Act and was wanted on an outstanding criminal warrant by OPP in another jurisdiction.

Police spoke with the female passenger who falsely identified herself numerous times prior to police learning her true identity. Investigation revealed that she too was wanted on an outstanding criminal warrant in another police jurisdiction.

James Whittington aged 30 of Kincardine was charged with Drive While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and was arrested on the strength of the warrant. He was subsequently turned over to South Bruce OPP.

Beverly Melanson aged 44 of Kitchener was charged with Obstruct Police and Personation with Intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on April 5, 2013 to answer to the charges. Melanson was subsequently turned over to London Police Service in regards to the outstanding warrant.
