Police Take Part in The Lock It or Lose It Campaign
Web posted on February 20, 2013
The Guelph Police Service today are joining police services across Ontario in supporting the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police's (OACP) 2013 Crime Prevention Campaign aimed at raising public awareness about personal responsibility when it comes to preventing crime.
Preventing a crime before it happens rather than having to deal with the consequences of crime is always the goal. Guelph Police are proud to support this campaign and its theme, "Crime Prevention...It Starts With You", because we believe in the important role every member of our community plays in preventing crime.
Ontario Police organizations are supporting the OACP's 2013 Crime Prevention Campaign, which seeks to raise public awareness about the important role individuals play in crime prevention. The campaign focuses on a broad range of issues that impact citizens across the province: on-line fraud, identification theft and other cybercrimes, auto theft, break-and-enters, etc. These types of crimes can victimize anyone, anywhere.
The Guelph Police work in partnership with members of the community, crime prevention organizations, business, schools, and governments to promote crime prevention as a crime fighting solution. This campaign is an invitation for everyone to join their police service to make our community safe.
This OACP campaign is made possible through the support of a number of partners: The Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation, Interact Association, Symantec Canada Inc., TitlePLUS, The Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association, Via Rail Canada, Humber College, The Canadian Security Association, Globali.com, Accident Support Services International Ltd., and Canpar.
Today, the Guelph Police will be tweeting and putting posts on face book throughout the day providing safety tips to assist you in avoiding becoming the victim of crime. The Guelph Police Youth and Crime Prevention unit will be going to various parking lots around the city doing a "Lock It or Lose It" campaign(weather pending).
