Pedestrian struck by car
On February 22, 2013, at 10:40 p.m., Guelph police observed a 21 year old Guelph male crossing Gordon Street at Wellington Street. While the pedestrian was in the intersection, a 2012 Toyota van which was being operated by a 35 year old Guelph woman struck the pedestrian, knocking him down.

The driver of the van continued driving southbound on Gordon Street. Guelph Police were able to follow the van and conduct a traffic stop on James Street. The vehicle's side and rear windows were snow covered and the driver was unaware she struck a pedestrian.

The driver was issued offence notices for no clear view to sides; fail to yield to pedestrian and for failing to surrender her driver's licence, all contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The pedestrian suffered injuries to his right arm and right leg. The vehicle's driver's side mirror was broken off.

Break and enter six arrested
On February 23, 2013 at 12:44 a.m., Guelph police attended to the area of Imperial Road just south of Willow Road after receiving a call that several people had entered into a townhome under construction and were causing damage to it.

A Canine Unit was first on scene and observed six people running from area. The officer called out to the fleeing suspects to stop running. Five of the suspects stopped and were arrested. The sixth suspect continued to run from police. A Canine track was commenced and the suspect was located hiding, approximately a kilometer from the scene.

David OLDERSHAW, 22 years of Guelph and Jacob VAN NORMAN, 19 years of Guelph have been charged with break and enter and commit mischief. OLDERSHAW was also charged with breach probation. OLDERSHAW will appear in Court on February 25, 2013. VAN NORMAN will appear in Court on March 1, 2013.

A 15 year old male, 17 year old male and two 15 year old females, all from Guelph were also charged with break and enter and commit mischief. All four will appear in Court on April 3, 2013.

Drive over 80mgs - arrest
On February 23, 2013 at 1:31 a.m., Guelph Police observed a vehicle driving northbound on Woolwich Street at a high rate of speed. Police stopped the vehicle on Woolwich Street north of Woodlawn Road. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Alex DEWARTZ, 18 years of Ayr has been charged with drive over 80mgs contrary to the Criminal Code. He was also charged with person under 19 years consume alcohol contrary to the Liquor licence Act and young driver BAC above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic act. He will appear in Court on March 12, 2013.

Mischief - arrest
On February 23, 2013 at 10:55 p.m., Guelph police attended to an apartment located within 90 Carden street in response to the complaint of noise. After cautioning the female responsible for the noise, police would be called back several times within the next few hours. On February 24, 2013 at 1:27 a.m., she was arrested.

Lisa GOODWIN, 23 years of Guelph has been charged with mischief. She will appear in Court on March 26, 2013.

Drugs - arrest
On February 24, 2013 at 1:54 a.m., Guelph police were on general patrol in the area of Woodlawn Road East and Country Club Drive. A man was observed by police walking eastbound on the north sidewalk, who appeared to be intoxicated.

Police stopped and spoke to the man and subsequently arrested him for public intoxication. A search following his arrest discovered a small quantity of marihuana and a criminal charge was laid.

Joshua FRANK, 27 years of Guelph has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. He will appear in Court on March 26, 2013.

Man assaults three employees of downtown bar
On February 24, 2013 at 2:24 a.m., Guelph police attended to an establishment on Carden Street to assist staff with a disturbance. Investigation alleged that a male patron assaulted three employees within the bar and he was arrested.

James STANLEY, 23 years of Cambridge has been charged with three counts of assault. He will appear in Court on April 5, 2013.
