February 25, 2013 - Update - The police have released the identities of the men arrested after a search warrant was executed on February 21, 2013.

Hoa NGUYEN, 49 years of Guelph and Tien HUYNH, 52 years of Guelph have been charged with theft of electricity, theft under $5000, production of a controlled substance (marijuana), and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. NGUYEN was further charged with breach of recognizance. They will both appear in bail court on February 25, 2013.

Search warrant leads to two arrests
In February, 2013, members of the Guelph Police Service's Drug Unit initiated an investigation into individuals who were believed to be producing marijuana in the city of Guelph. On February 21, 2013, a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed at a residence located on Victoria Road in Guelph.

Located inside the residence was a highly sophisticated marijuana grow operation. A total of 286 marijuana plants were seized. It is estimated that this number of plants has the potential to produce $286, 000 worth of marijuana if sold on the street. Also seized from the residence was $7000 worth of growing equipment, $1,600 worth of dry marijuana, and other offence related property.

A 49 year old Guelph man and a 52 year old Guelph man have been charged with Theft of electricity, Theft Under $5000, Production of a Controlled Substance (marijuana), and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. The 49 year old was further charged with Breach of Recognizance. They will both appear in bail court on February 22, 2013.
