City of Guelph Is Preparing for Heavy Snowfall Overnight

Web posted on February 26, 2013

Guelph, ON, February 26, 2013 - According to Environment Canada, a significant weather front is moving towards Southwestern Ontario. The forecast predicts over 30 centimetres of snow accumulation for Guelph and area over the next 48 hours. Precipitation will likely fall as heavy snow or rain depending on the temperature.

Currently, the City is preparing for these weather conditions by applying anti-icing material to the arterial and collector roads. The City will employ its winter control team, and is planning to plow residential streets once 10 centimetres of snow has accumulated.

The City asks residents not to park on the streets for the next 48 hours in order for snow clearance operations to occur.

For general information about the City's winter snow removal contact the Operations department at 519-837-5628 or
