Recall - Children's Pyjama Sets

Web posted on March 01, 2013

The product being recalled is a two-piece children's sleepwear set. The sleepwear is made of various cotton blends.

The affected product comes in various sizes, with the following colours and designs embroidered on the front of the tops:

* Bright green with dragonflies and flowers

* Pale blue with butterfly and flowers

* Pale yellow with butterflies and flowers

* Pale blue with bear face and dog

* Bright orange with kittens

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has determined that these products do not meet the flammability requirements for children's sleepwear under Canadian law. Consumers should stop using the sleepwear immediately.

Loose-fitting children's sleepwear can contact ignition sources such as stove elements, candles, and matches more readily than tight-fitting sleepwear, and once ignited will burn rapidly, potentially resulting in severe burns to large areas of the child's body. For this reason, cotton is not permitted in loose-fitting sleepwear.

The affected garments were manufactured in Vietnam and imported by MGK Fashion Inc., Toronto, Ontario. The unknown number of the recalled pyjama sets were sold at Mega Children's Wear stores in Ontario. The time period during which the recalled products were sold is unknown.

Neither Health Canada nor MGK Fashion Inc. has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of the affected products.

For more information, consumers are advised to please contact the retailer from whom they purchased the recalled sleepwear.
