SNOWMOBILE COLLIDES WITH OPP CRUISER
SIU has invoked its mandate
(CHATSWORTH, ON) - On Sunday, March 3, 2014 at approximately 9:30 p.m., a collision occurred between a Grey County Provincial Police (OPP) cruiser and a motorized snow vehicle (snowmobile) on the West Back Line north of Hamilton Lane in the Municipality of West Grey. The vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when the collision occurred.
The operator of the snowmobile, a Township of Chatsworth male, was transported to the Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre in Owen Sound with non-life threatening injuries.
The male officer operating the OPP cruiser was transported to the Markdale Hospital where he was examined as a precaution and released.
The OPP West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (TTCI) is assisting the West Grey Police Service with the investigation. v The province's Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has been notified and has invoked its mandate.
