Recall - Train set with giraffe family

Web posted on March 05, 2013

This voluntary recall involves a train set made up of four giraffes (one large and three small), rails and plastic palm trees. The train moves along the rails on battery power. According to the instructions on the toy, it is intended for children over the age of three.

The item can be identified by UPC 00667888139491 and item number 08-3024978.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled toys away from children and dispose of them in their regular household waste.

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that if the toy falls onto a hard surface, it can break into small pieces. Since Health Canada considers that this toy is intended for children under the age of three, regardless of what is indicated on the packaging, the small pieces pose a choking hazard.

Neither Health Canada nor Dollarama has received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these toys in Canada.

The train set was manufactured in China by Ocean Smart (Asia) Ltd., and imported through Dollarama L.P/S.E.C., Montreal, Canada. Approximately 18,894 train sets with giraffe families were sold in Dollarama stores in Canada. The recalled toys were sold from November 2012 to February 2013.

For more information, consumers may contact Dollarama by telephone at 1-888-755-1006 or by email.
