Pedestrian struck by police cruiser investigation concludes
On January 17, 2013 shortly after 6 p.m., a Guelph Police cruiser was exiting from the parking lot of the Guelph General Hospital onto Delhi Street when the front driver's side of the vehicle struck a 53 year old female pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a fractured left leg. The SIU was contacted and concluded their investigation without charges as there were no reasonable grounds to charge the officer with any criminal offence in relation to this collision.

The Guelph Police continued their investigation and have subsequently charged the officer with careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He will appear in court in May 2013.
