Sudden Death Update

On Saturday, March 9, 2013, the Guelph Police were called to a residence to investigate an eight week old infant whose vital signs were absent. First responders attempted to revive the infant who was then transported to Guelph General Hospital. The infant was then pronounced deceased. As part of the ongoing investigation a post mortem was conducted at Hamilton General Hospital on March 11th 2013.

The investigation continues, however at this point in time, the cause of death does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

Pedestrian Struck

On Monday March 11, 2013, at approximately 4:13pm, Guelph Police responded to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle at Gordon St and South Ring Road. Investigation determined that a 24 year old Guelph woman was struck by a 4 door 2010 Toyota, being operated by a 51 year old Guelph woman.

The pedestrian was treated at the scene by GWEMS and suffered minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle was charged for failing to yield to a pedestrian, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Cyclist Struck

On Monday March 11, 2013, at approximately 8:58pm, a 23 year old Guelph man was riding his bicycle southbound on Edinburgh Road North through the intersection of Willow Road when he was struck by an unknown silver vehicle. The silver vehicle left the scene. The collision caused the cyclist to be ejected off the bicycle. The cyclist declined medical treatment at the scene for minor injuries.

The cyclist was not wearing a helmet, didn't have any lights affixed to the bicycle and was wearing dark clothing.

The only description of the vehicle is silver in colour and it may have some damage to the left front corner of the vehicle.

Guelph Police would like to speak to any witnesses or anyone with any information pertaining to the driver and/or the vehicle involved in this collision. Call Cst Matt Jotham , 519-824-1212, ext #7434.
