BOTH DRIVERS INJURED IN 2 VEHICLE CRASH

(KINCARDINE TWP, ON) - On March 9, 2013 at 5:55 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a 2 vehicle crash at the intersection of Bruce County Road 15 and Bruce County Road 23 in Kincardine Township.

Officers arrived to find that a Black Mazda MS3 failed to stop at the intersection and struck a Grey Saturn Vue travelling along Bruce County Road 15. The driver of the Mazda, 51 year old Gary FINLEY of Kincardine has been charged with Careless driving. Both drivers were treated for non-life threatening injuries at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Kincardine.

DRIVERS CONTINUE TAKING CHANCES WITH ALCOHOL

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) - The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued 3 driver's licence suspensions this past weekend to driver's that registered a warn range blood alcohol at the road side.

* On March 9, 2013 at 1:117 am, a pick-up truck was stopped on Durham Street East in Walkerton. 7 day driver's licence suspension issued.

* On March 8, 2013 at 9:56 pm, an Oldsmobile was stopped on Outram Street in Lucknow. 3 day driver's licence suspension issued.

* On March 8, 2013 at 6:55 pm, a pick-up truck was stopped on Bruce County Road 4 in Culross Township. 3 day driver's licence suspension issued.

In an analysis of contributing factors for vehicle crashes in South Bruce Detachment area in 2012, alcohol impairment ranked #6. This is an easily preventable factor; if you drink, don't drive. Remember, the South Bruce OPP have a zero tolerance for motorists that choose to mix alcohol and driving.

MALE ARRESTED AT DISTURBANCE

(WALKERTON, ON) - On March 12, 2013 at 10:44 pm, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of 2 males fighting on Prince Street in Walkerton. Officers arrived to find one of the combatants very intoxicated and uncooperative with police.

21 year old Enayat THOMPSON of Kitchener was charged with Breach of probation and Being intoxicated in public. He was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing scheduled for March 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm. There were no injuries reported from the fight.

DRIVER CHARGED AT 2 VEHICLE CRASH

(WALKERTON, ON) - On March 12, 2013 at 1:33 pm, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a 2 vehicle crash at the intersection of Scott Street and Peter Street in Walkerton. Officers arrived to find that a Green Dodge Shadow struck a White Volkswagen Jetta that was travelling along Scott Street.

The driver of the Dodge, 41 year old Stephen SYLVESTER of Mildmay, was charged with Fail to yield right of way. There were no injuries reported at the crash.

IMPAIRED DRIVER HITS TREE

(BRANT TWP, ON) - On March 11, 2013 at 6:11 pm, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle crash along Bruce County Road 4 in Brant Township. Officers arrived and noted that a Red Buick Lesabre had struck a tree at the entrance to the County Village Trailer Park.

The driver was treated for minor injuries by paramedics and found to have been drinking alcohol. 53 year old Kathleen POT of Brant Township has been charged with Impaired operation and Operate over 80 milligrams. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 8, 2013 to answer to the charges.
