Updated - Fatal Collision on Grey Road 11

Updated - (MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) (March 14, 10:24 am) Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were at the scene of a single motor vehicle collision on Grey Road 11 in the Municipality of Meaford.  The collision occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, March 13, 2013.

A Ford Ranger pick-up truck was being driven southbound on Grey Road 11 when the driver lost control of the vehicle.  The vehicle went into the east ditch and struck a tree.  The driver has been pronounced dead at the scene.

Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have identified the deceased as James C. Young, 88, of the Township of Chatsworth, There were no passengers in the vehicle.

Mr. Young was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem examination is scheduled for today (Thursday), at the Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre in Owen Sound to determine the cause of death.

The Inter-Township Fire Department and Grey County Emergency Services (EMS) also attended the scene.

The OPP West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit has been called to assist Grey County OPP with the on-going investigation.

Grey Rd. 11 was closed from Story Book Park Road, south to Grey Road 18, in Meaford,  for the safety of emergency responders at the scene.
