Update on Monday, March 18, 2013 As a result of the Investigation the OPP have charged Hugh John BRAKE, 53 years of age from Kitchener Ontario with:
1) Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle - Causing Death
2) Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle - Causing Bodily Harm
3) Impaired Driving - Causing Death
4) Over 80mgs - Causing Death
5) Impaired Driving - Causing Bodily Harm
6) Over 80mgs - Causing Bodily Harm
7) Obstruct Justice
8) Possession Schedule ll Cannabis - Marijuana under 30 grams
The accused is being held for a bail hearing today. The Investigation is ongoing, the OPP Traffic Support Team and the Divisional Crime Unit were called to assist with the investigation.

(Kitchener, ON.) - Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division's (HSD) Cambridge Detachment continue to investigate a now fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Hwy 7/8 westbound west of Fischer - Hallman Rd., in the City of Kitchener.
At about 6:27 p.m., on Saturday, March 16, 2013, Police received a call of a disabled vehicle in a live lane on Hwy 7/8. While officers were onroute to the call officers were advised of a serious personal injury collision in the same location.
Once on scene officers observed a Cube Van that had drove into the disabled VW Jetta. There were three occupants originally in the vehicle but at this point of the investigation it is not determined if they were in or out of the vehicle at the time.
A male, female and a female child were transported to Grand River Hospital in Kitchener. The 17 month old female child was then transported by Air Ambulance to Sick Kids Hospital in Hamilton where she was pronounced deceased. The adult female passenger was transported to Hamilton General and remains in critical condition. The male received minor injuries and remained at Grand River Hospital.
The driver of the van sustained no injuries and was arrested at the scene for Impaired driving causing bodily harm. The Investigation is ongoing, the OPP Traffic Support Team were called to assist with the investigation.
