Recall - Canarm Ltd. Ceiling Lights

Web posted on March 18, 2013

This recall involves the "Twenty One Collection" semi flush ceiling light with model number ISF253A03ORB.

When the unit is being mounted, it is possible for the consumer to screw in the main mounting stud too far which can result in damage to the protective coating on internal wires, thereby causing a potential fire or shock hazard.

Consumers should immediately stop using the ceiling lights and tighten the hex lock nut provided (Image 2) to prevent the stem from contacting electrical wires, or call for a new replacement stem which does not require locking nut.

Canarm Ltd. received one report of a consumer being shocked when the stem of the mounting stud pinched the electrical wires. Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this ceiling light.

The affected products were manufactured in China and imported by Canarm Ltd., Brockville, Ontario. Approximately 4,225 units of the affected ceiling lights were sold at Home Hardware stores across Canada. The affected ceiling lights were sold from January 2010 to December 2012.

For more information, consumers may contact Canarm Customer Service by telephone at 1-800-265-1833, or by mail at Canarm Ltd. 2157 Parkedale Ave., Brockville, Ontario K6V 5V6. Consumers may also view the recall notice on the Electrical Safety Authority's website.
