The Visitation and Funeral for Constable Kovach

Both the City of Guelph and the Guelph Police Services have released details of the visitation times and funeral for Constable Kovach. A funeral of this size requires significant planning and as such traffic, transit and parking will be affected in the downtown area from Tuesday until Thursday.
Visitation will take place at Gilbert and Son MacIntyre Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, located at 1099 Gordon Street South, Guelph on Tuesday, March 19 and Wednesday, March 20 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. During the visitation, a GPS Honour Guard will be provided.
During the viewing times, traffic using the local intersections will by directed by police. Motorists are reminded to be patient and understanding when driving in an around the funeral home and asked if possible to use alternative roads.
The Full Regimental Funeral will take place on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 11:30am at the Sleeman Centre, 50 Woolwich Street, Guelph. At 10 a.m. the procession will begin at Police Headquarters at 15 Wyndham Street South and proceed north on Wyndham to Trafalgar Square, then south on Woolwich to the Sleeman Centre.

The following roads will be closed for the morning of Thursday, March 21, 2013:
* Woolwich Street will be closed between Macdonell Street and the intersection of Woolwich, Wyndham and Eramosa Roads (Trafalgar Square).
* Wyndham Street will be closed between Fountain Street and the intersection of Woolwich, Wyndham and Eramosa Roads (Trafalgar Square).
* Fountain, Farquhar, and Freshfield Streets will be closed.
In preparation for the large volume of traffic expected downtown the road and sidewalk maintenance activities on Wyndham, Douglas, Woolwich and Macdonell streets will take place from 3-7 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20 and Thursday, March 21.
On the morning of Thursday, March 21, 2013 sections of Woolwich and Wyndham streets will be closed to through traffic and parking will not be permitted. Access to the local businesses will only be maintained until approximately 9:00am. The roads are expected to reopen around mid-afternoon.
In addition to closing the roads for the procession, parking will not be permitted in the Fountain Street and Farmers' Market parking lots. Or on the roads on Fountain Street (east of Wyndham), Neeve Street, Surrey Street, Farquhar (between Wyndham and Gordon), Freshfield (from Fountain to the north limit.)
There has been an error reported concerning the shuttle. The parking and the shuttle are only for the personnel from the many emergency services that are attending and not the general public.
