Care and control impaired arrest

On March 21, 2013 at 10:50 p.m., Guelph Police attended to an eating establishment on Silvercreek Parkway North after receiving a call from employees that a male they suspected of being intoxicated had just left to go to his car.

Police arrived shortly after and spoke to the male, who was in his vehicle with the engine running. Police made the determination that the male was intoxicated and he was arrested.

Paul MOONEY, 49 years of Haliburton has been charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and over 80mg care and control of a motor vehicle. He will attend court on May 3, 2013.

Two fires in Guelph within one hour of each other

On March 21, 2013 at 8:09 p.m., the Guelph Police and Guelph Fire Department (GFD) responded to a working basement fire at 59 Stevenson Street North. GFD was able to contain the fire and fully extinguish it a short time later. There were no reported injuries.

Damage estimates were not known at the time of this release. This fire is still under investigation.

On March 21, 2013 at 8:58p.m., the Guelph Police and Guelph Fire Department (GFD) responded to a working basement fire located at 38 Curzon Crescent. GFD was able to contain the fire and fully extinguish it a short time later. The residents were able to exit the home without any injuries.

Damage estimates were not known at the time of this release. The fire is being deemed as not suspicious.
