COPPER STOLEN FROM ROOF OF DOWNIE SCHOOL

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) - On October 02, 2013 Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to Downie Central School along Perth Line 20 near St.Pauls when it was discovered that copper had been stolen from the roof.

Investigation revealed that sometime between the evening of Tuesday October 01, 2013 and the morning hours of Wednesday October 02, 2013 culprits removed 75, 2'X3' sheets of copper roofing material from the roof structure of the school. Damage to the school is estimated to be in excess of $15,000.00

The Perth County OPP Crime Unit with the assistance of the OPP West Region Criminal Investigation Unit, located the copper roofing material at metal recycling company in Kitchener, two suspects were identified.

David SPIES (36) of Kitchener and Stephen WITTER (43) of Kitchener have been charged with; "theft over $5,000.00", "mischief over $5,000.00", and "possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.00". Both males are scheduled to appear on October 28, 2013, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford to answer to these charges.

MALE CHARGED WITH THEFT OF WAGON

TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) - On May 19, 2013 Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a rural property along Perth Line 43 east of Amulree where the owner reported the theft of a farm wagon.

Investigation revealed that a vehicle had been observed towing the wagon away from the property to a New Dundee address where it was sold. Police identified a suspect and continued their investigation.

David SPIES (36) of Kitchener has since been charged with "theft under $5,000.00", and "possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.00". He remains in custody until October 28, 2013 when he is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford to answer to the charges.

IMPAIRED DRIVER HITS WOOD PILE

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) - Shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday October 21, 2013 Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a residence on Princess St. in Millbank where a Dodge Mini Van had driven into a wood pile located along the driveway.

Upon police arrival it was determined that the male driver of the van displayed signs of impairment. The driver was transported to the North Perth OPP Detachment in Listowel where he refused to provide breath samples.

Roger MCCOAG (48) a resident of the Municipality of North Perth has been charged with "driving while ability impaired", and with "fail or refuse to provide a breath sample". He is required to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel on Monday November 25, 2013 to answer to these charges. He has received an automatic 90 day driver's licence suspension and his van has been impounded for seven days.

SERIOUS CRASH NEAR GOWANSTOWN

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) - On Tuesday October 22, 2013 shortly before 4:30 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to an injury collision involving a pickup truck striking a tree along Road 165 just north of Perth Line 88 (west of Gowanstown).

Investigation revealed that a green Ford pickup truck had been travelling north bound on Road 165 north of Perth Line 88 when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The pickup truck entered the west ditch striking a large tree with the front driver's side of the vehicle.

The driver, a 22 year male from Clifford as well as a 21 year old male passenger from Palmerston and a 24 year old female passenger from Minto Twp., were all transported to Listowel Memorial Hospital.

The two passengers were treated and released while the driver was stabilized and subsequently transported to London Health Sciences with major but non-life threatening injuries.

Road 165 between Perth Line 88 and Line 89 remained closed until 9 p.m. to allow for a safe investigation of the collision.

The Perth County OPP is continuing their investigation into this crash.
