Assault - arrest

On December 9, 2013 at 9:22 p.m., the Guelph Police attended to a Stevenson Street rooming house to investigate an assault complaint. It is alleged that a male occupant of the residence assaulted a female resident when she attempted to have him turn his music down.

The male spit on her, pushed her and punched her. He then threatened to kill her, at which time she fled to her room and called police. The male was arrested at the scene. The female did not require medical attention. Costatino KOSE, 40 years of Guelph has been charged with assault and utter threats to cause death. He will appear in court on January 21, 2014.

Emergency Services Food Drive Results

Thank you residents of Guelph! On December 7, 2013 members of the Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services, Guelph Fire Department and Guelph Police Service joined forces to collect food and cash donations for the Guelph Food Bank at the Zehrs locations on Paisley Road and Kortright Road.

The community support was again overwhelming! We collected 10,829 lbs of food donations and over $4,500 in cash donations which has an approximate equivalent of 6,800 lbs, for a grand total of 17,622 lbs. This total doubles what was donated in 2012 at this event, when 8,842 lbs was raised.

On behalf of our three local emergency services, we would like to thank the public for their generous support and for again demonstrating that we live in a caring community. Special thanks to the volunteers from the Food Bank and the staff at Zehrs for making this event possible.

Please continue to support our local food banks.
