Guelph Police Encourage Residents To Use Coplogic

Web posted on December 11, 2013

The online reporting (CopLogic) found on the Guelph Police web site continues to become a more popular tool for the Guelph Community. In the first half of 2013 after it was introduced, Guelph Police were receiving about 20 reports per month on this system.

Over the second half of 2013, the system is receiving 40 or more reports per month. The Guelph Police hope that these numbers continue to rise as this process assists in police being able to better serve the community by freeing up patrol units for higher priority calls requiring a prompt response.

If your incident is NOT an emergency and does NOT meet all of the online reporting criteria below, call 519-824-1212 or attend to the Guelph Police Service, 15 Wyndham St. S, Guelph.

You should call police and NOT file an online report if any of the following is true:
* If you have a known suspect

* If you are in possession of any evidence

* If the value of the theft, loss or property damage is more than $5,000.00

* If the incident occurred outside of the City of Guelph

* If someone broke into your home or business

* If this is a motor vehicle collision

* If this is a theft or loss of a firearm

* If this is a theft or loss of licence plates or any Federal Government issued personal identification documents

* If this is related to any form of personal violence including domestic violence

* If this is related to any kind of vandalism or graffiti that could be described as hate motivated

Online reports DO include:
* Damage/mischief to a vehicle (other than by a collision and under $5,000)

* Damage/mischief to property (under $5,000)

* Theft (under $5,000)

* Theft from vehicle (under $5,000)

* Lost property (under $5,000)

* The report must be filed by the owner of the lost, stolen or damaged property or by an authorized representative

* A valid email address, complete incident address, and contact address information

* A drivers licence, ownership and/or insurance information (if applicable)

Once a report is submitted, you will receive a temporary reference number. We will endeavour to have your submission reviewed by an officer within 72 hours at which time an official occurrence number will be sent to you.
