Robbery

On December 20, 2013 at 7:51p.m., the Guelph Police attended to a retail establishment on Woolwich Street at Speedvale Avenue to investigate a robbery. It is alleged that the robbery was committed by two male suspects, one of whom brandished a handgun. An undisclosed amount of money was taken during the commission of the robbery. No one was injured as a result of this incident.

Suspect descriptions:
# 1 male, unconfirmed ethnicity, face disguised, wearing red shirt, 5'5" to 6' tall, carrying a gun

#2 male, unconfirmed ethnicity, face disguised, wearing black jacket, 5'5" to 6' tall

Break and enter

On December 20, 2013 at 2:51 p.m., the Guelph Police attended to a Pamela Place residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the home through a patio door sometime between December 7 and December 14. A theft of jewellery, a laptop and some prescription meds is reported.

Break and enter

On December 22, 2013 at 2:11 a.m., the Guelph Police attended to a Cole Road residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the home through an unlocked basement window sometime between December 21 at 1:00 p.m. and December 22 at 1:30 a.m. A theft of electronics and a large amount of coin is reported.

Weekend storm

It was a busy weekend for emergency services in many southern Ontario cities. Over December 21 and December 22, the Guelph Police attended to 108 calls for dangerous situations such as wires and tree limbs down as well as traffic light issues. Police also investigated 19 collisions over the two days.

There are still repairs to wires going on and many tree limbs down. There is potential that further tree limbs could still come down as well so be aware of your surroundings.

Another truck hits Wyndham Train Bridge

On December 20, 2013 at 4:00 p.m., a witness reported a collision on Wyndham Street South at the railway bridge. The witness advised police that a transport truck and trailer was travelling southbound when it struck the bridge crash beam. There were several pieces of the trailer located at the scene and it appears as though there was minor damage to the crash beam once again.

The transport truck and trailer did not stop and continued southbound towards Wellington Street. The trailer was described as "gunmetal style" but no plate or company name was obtained by the witness.
