Impaired Driver Charged After Festive RIDE Stop

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) On December 21, 2013, at approximately 3:43 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Festive R.I.D.E. Team were on patrol along Woodlawn Road West, near Elmira Road, Guelph.

Officers spotted a 2003 Toyota driving above the posted speed limit of 60 km/h. The male driver was spoken with and showed signs of alcohol consumption. A Roadside Screening Device test was administered which resulted in a fail.

The Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Jeffery VOELZING age 51 of Kitchener has been charged with Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and two offences under the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 24, 2014 to answer to the charge.
